IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) THERAPY FOR SKIN REJUVENATION:

IPL treatment can be used to visibly reduce the effects of ageing and the damage caused by sun exposure, trauma, illness and other lifestyle factors.

 

The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) system regenerates the skin by stimulating the production of collagen over a period of time. This improves the skin's elasticity, texture and can aid in reducing wrinkles.

 

The Lumenis One IPL machine used at The London Dermatology Centre comes with a range of heads and filters that are treatment-specific, which with an in-depth consultation, mean that we deliver an accurate and individually tailored treatment according to your skin type.

 

IPL can also be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including rosacea. It can treat cracked thread veins and broken blood vessels in the face and elsewhere on the body and it is very effective at removing unwanted hair.

 

 

SIDE EFFECTS

As the intense pulsed light is passed over the skin there may be a very slight pinging sensation, like that caused by an elastic band. A patch test is carried out prior to treatment taking place and this will help you understand what IPL treatment feels like.

 

Side effects are rare but can include slight redness and swelling of the treated area, blistering or bruising and hyper or hypopigmentation. The redness and swelling generally disappears within a few hours of treatment, and the remaining side effects are very rare. The London Dermatology Centre's dermatologists and aesthetic physicians will carry out a full assessment before any treatment takes place to alleviate any risks.

 

TREATMENT

The number of treatments depends on your skin and hair type. The high energy levels of our laser reduces the number of treatments required to achieve hair loss. This makes the process more cost effective when compared to extended treatments that are required by lower energy lasers.

 

The number of treatment sessions depends on whether treatment is aimed at hair removal, treating a skin condition or for rejuvenation of skin. On average:

• 1 session is required every 4 - 6 weeks
• A full treatment may need between 3 - 4 sessions for skin rejuvenation
• Each treatment lasts 10 - 20 minutes, depending on the area being treated
• Results should be visible by session 3
