Inner Arm and Thigh Reduction

Introduction

As part of the ageing process, after excessive weight loss or in some patients naturally, there is an excess of skin and fat in the inner arm and inner thigh area. This can be uncomfortable, unsightly and can cause sores due to rubbing. Inner arm and thigh reduction procedures aim to remove this excess tissue and provide a smooth contour to these particular anatomical areas.

Procedure

For both the arm and thigh reduction, scars can be concealed in the arm pit and inner groin respectively. The operation takes one and a half hours and may involve an overnight stay. A compression garment is recommended for four weeks in order to allow for the skin to conform to its new shape. At two weeks follow up, a dressing change is carried out and the sutures do not need removal as they dissolve.

Recovery period

For the first week there is some pain on movement and for this we prescribe regular painkillers. The swelling takes a week to ten days to settle after which the final aesthetic result is apparent. We advise you to refrain form strenuous activity for a week and resume driving after a similar period. Usually, only a week off work is recommended.

Inner arm and/or thigh reduction is successful in improving body contour and makes movement of the arms and thighs more comfortable.
